Effective ResumeResume is an essential document for all selection process. Resume is the first link between you and your employer, hence the resume should be made such that the it creates a good first impression. Making your first resume will take time and effort, once the resume is made it should be customized to suit the requirement of the company that you sending it to. First and the most important step is to create a look and feel for your resume, basically the appearance of the resume. You can do this by using MS Word resume templates or by using your creativity. It is to be kept in mind that a resume with good look and feel is soothing to the eyes and hence will be a pleasure to read. There should not be too much of white spaces in the resume or it should not be too congested with lot of words packed together in a page. Ideally a freshers' resume should not be more than two pages long and preferably only one page long. In case of an experienced person's resume preferably it should not be more than two pages long. It is ideal to first think about a flow for your resume. The best flow for a resume should be such that it starts from the most important and goes to the least important. Hence for a fresher what is most important is the academic background whereas for a person with work experience it should be his work experience. A typical flow for a resume for a fresher would be as follows.
For a person with very relevant work experience, the work-experience would precede the academic qualifications. A well made resume improves your chances to a great extent for getting short-listed, hence it is of utmost importance to dedicate time and resources to make you resume look different and standout in the pack. - Ajay Zener (Consultant Trainer, VERTEX)
