Campus Placement / Recruitment Preparation
Campus recruitment is the first step to professional life
for Engineers and MBA's. It is very important that you get
into the best of the companies in the campus placement. As
this is your first job, it is also important that you get
attached to a good brand in the market. But, with
competition at its helm and with more and more students
passing out of Engineering and MBA colleges, campus
placement is not a cake walk. It requires a planned and
organized preparation before you can get into your dream
company.
-
First task at hand is to prioritize the companies and
job profile in order of your preference. Research well
before prioritizing so that you know exactly what you
are looking forward to.
-
Know what are the basic criteria to be fulfilled so that
you know whether you can apply to these organizations.
You should know the cut-off marks, educational
background required to join the organizations.
-
When do these companies come for campus placement, do
they come to your campus, can you apply if they come to
another campus, these are questions which you should try
to answer.
-
What is the selection process of the company, e.g. is
there a GD, Interview, JAM, Aptitude Tests etc. If yes
then what is the pattern, read previous years
experiences / question papers. Know the pattern really
well so that you are confident.
-
Practice these tests at least for 1 hr every day
starting 3 months before the placements, this will give
you the speed and understanding required to crack the
campus placement test.
-
Know about the company, read through its website, read
about the recent news articles about the company. It
will help you be up to date in the interview.
-
Brush up your technical / academic basics and also
current affairs, these are important for the interviews.
-
Read news paper editorials, weekly magazines to know
more about the current topics being debated. This will
help you contribute to the GD well.
-
Introspect, know more about yourself, your strengths,
weakness, ambitions etc. This will help you in answering
the HR interview with more confidence.
-
Gather a group to discuss current topics, it will help
you gain confidence in handling GD and also you will get
more view points from your friends.
-
Ask, one of your friend to conduct a mock interview.
Analyze, how it went through.
You can also look forward to joining a good placement
training institute for more exposure for campus placements.
